Burn

She took a puff in, and felt a burn in her chest. So hot, she felt feverish, and slipped deep into a delirium so round, so alluring, she closed her eyes and let it suck her in.

Right here, in the middle of the many coloured rings she saw him standing, hand stretched out.

She slapped it away and ran the opposite direction until she stopped hearing footsteps and turned her head around.

Where did he go? What had happened to him, she thought walking back the same way she had run.

But why are you going back that way, asked her mind, but her heart owned her body she kept taking steps back.

Until he reached out to her, grabbed her by the feet, cared not when she fell flat on her ass and he dragged her across the slippery floor, into the circles.

She turned around, dug her nails into the ground, and screeched across the floor, regretting those steps back from a moment ago.

She yanked her leg back, but it made no difference, because he had a firm grip on her foot. She sensed a violence, an anger so deep, it burnt her hope.

She was done for, she knew. So why not give it all her strength. She would go for it, ride or die.. she would fall, but for a brief time she would fly, she thought.

So with all her might, she lifted her head, her back, even her yoga instructor would be proud.. and bit his arm as hard as she possibly could, till she heard his skin break and his blood tickled her tongue, sleeking out. Yes it was what was meant to happen, she thought as she bit his skin off and heard him scream.

He let go. Yanking his arm now, to examine the damages, you stupid bitch he said, and was surprised to see her lunge up at him with all her strength. She wasn't done, no, not by a long shot. Not until she had bit him to shreds of flesh and bone, that drowned in his blood, this being that was, did she realize, that he truly was just, gone.

She was rid of him. Then she looked up, saw the light on top, and thought, it's done, I don't want to see anymore. And she saw none, not until the light gave way to shadows.

When he started his journey, it was the soles of his feet that were in contact with the ground, but now as he pulled himself closer to the station, it was his whole body. His elbows were scraped, bloody and fresh scab peeled bled out to leave a trail of red on the wicked hot dusty ground of pain and suffering. All around him slow moving bodies crawled towards the direction of hope, all along leaving patterns of blood, sweat, skin and pus. These bodies had seen civil wars, droughts, genocide and lived to tell a tale of a people who now belonged to a nation listed as one of the poorest countries in the world. This is now, but before the list, was a struggle of massive proportions, under reported and quietly hidden

The Temple Widow A narrow dirt path, generously peppered with tiny pebbles, tiny miniatures of their gargantuan ancestors, leads to a bridge. It hangs, rickety and old. Old but not well used, old like abandoned and not frequently used. The bridge hangs low over a small stream that slowly gurgles past, happy unlike those that visit the place. The bridge leads to a temple. It is not very big, only perhaps the size of a small hut and at the most the size of an average temple hall. The temple has no deity; the temple has no one corner that doesn’t look like the other. It is clean, well swept, and empty. It has no furniture, and excepting a series of well spaced out windows, the walls remains uninterrupted. She stumbles in, the lady. She is not very tal

Time Travel

All I know is what I know, question my memory if you want to. I don't ask you to remember, I don't ask you to believe. In fact, I'm not asking you for anything at all. It is your choice to be here, to read this. So no, I don't owe you a favor. I happened to chance upon a watch, on one of my travels. Turning the dials of such a watch, could transport you to the past, to the future, to any time. But time, my friend, is not how you think it is. It is not a straight line, and you cannot just by chance hop into the world of dinosaurs and wooden weapons. It is a series of transparencies, like films of clean sheets of paper laid on top of each other. You look from above
